- Any car will be permitted except hearses, limos, convertibles, 61-69 Lincolns, 73 and older imperials, LeBaron’s, imperial swaps, or El caminos, When using chain, it’s -a max of 3/8” diameter and when using wire, it’s four strands of #9 from TSC or similar. No washers may be used to reinforce a hole you run wire through.
- Car must be clean and free of trash. No part of the frame may be painted. You get one roof sign and can only mount to the tin.
- Interior may have aftermarket steering wheel and column, pedals, battery box, gas tank, transmission cooler and shifter. None of the interior components can be used as reinforcement in any way.
- You may use any breed of engine and it can have a lower cradle mounted on rubber or polyurethane with front plate and pully protector, or be welded in with 12” of total weld. only if the entire sway bar is removed. Floating engine oil pan plate is acceptable. No other protectors may be used on the engine; including: wire, header, radiator, carborator, valve cover, air cleaner, foot pedals or distributor protectors. Header connectors are fine. Fords 2003 and newer may utilize a Budde BCHD02 or SMW style engine cradle. If a cradle in any car isn’t used, two engine chains may weld to the frame within the footprint of the upper A-arm tower- one welded link per side. Radiator may be mounted in a fashion of your choice. However, the mounting cannot over-protect the cores or migrate out of the immediate radiator area. One condenser may mount to core support using a total of four 3/8” bolts and 1.5” washers OR four 1” welds.
- Factory transmissions only and must use the factory crossmember for your car. Transmission may have a steel bell and a steel tail stock. No other transmission parts will be allowed. Transmission must be mounted on rubber or polyurethane and the OEM crossmember may be mounted on 6 inches of 3×3 angle welded to the frame. Slider drivelines are acceptable.
- Differential: any non-braced OEM rearend may be used, including 14 bolt. Tubes may be welded to the case. Postal style mounting brackets are acceptable. Factory sized spring perch is acceptable. Fabricated upper ears are acceptable. Pinion brake is acceptable, however, the lateral mounts/bracing to mount them, may not have any gussets added to them. Anything deemed to be bracing and/or not directly being used for mounting purposes, will be cut.
- Gas tank protector that mounts your fuel tank may touch but not be pressured into the rear sheet metal, can be a maximum of 36” wide, and have its own halo, no taller than the speaker deck. Straight gussets are fine but everything must attach to the seat bar only and have a 4” gap to sheet metal.
- Body bolts, cones, mounts, and washers must be factory stock for that car and installed just as they were from the factory. If they are broken, rusted off, or pulled through, you may add 3 loops of wire in the immediate area to secure the body just as the bolt did.
- Doors must be welded, chained, or wired. Must choose only ONE of the three options. No more than 8 wires or chain per door and the wire or chain at the bottom of doors may go around the frame. If welded, only 3 – 3×3 patches per vertical door seam (including window frame) are permitted. Wagon tailgate can be a trunk or a door. Driver’s door may be reinforced on the outside or inside but cannot overlap the door seam by more than 3 inches, unless you are running full exterior door bars. No door skins.
- Hoods and trunk lids must be chained, wired, welded if welded only 4 3×3 patches per seam or removed. Front edge of hood may be trimmed off. Hood must be open for inspection unless the inside of the hood is cut out. If using nine wire or chain No more than 6 total places per seam. Sheet metal to sheet metal only and 1” all-thread may be added through the front body mount hole with 5” floating washers top and bottom. All-thread may have a 3x3x3” tall core support spacer welded to the core support and the frame. Six 3/8” bolts may bolt hood skins together. TRUNK MUST BE OPEN FOR INSPECTION OR HAVE A 8” ROUND HOLE CUT IN IT OR IN THE TRUNK FLOOR. You may tuck the trunk by means of a single 90-degree bend. You may not remove speaker deck or push it down at any time, even on pre-run cars. The rear frame behind the humps may be dimpled or notched and at no time can this be re-welded. Fender tips in front of the front tire may be trimmed off and the bottom corner of the quarter panel, behind the rear tires may be trimmed off.
- Air filled tires only. Must start with stock wheel and an 8” wheel center may be added along with a valve stem protector. Narrowed is ok.
- No creasing of the body or frame is permitted. Do not touch any part of the body or frame with a hammer or any other tool.
- Cage may have 12” tall, 62” long door bars, including the widths of the dash, seat bar, and down bars. Dash and shifter bar will remain 4” off the tunnel and firewall. You may have a roll over bar that runs perpendicular to the door bars and it may bolt or be wired to the roof in three places. Center/shifter bar is ok as long as it’s 3” off the sheet metal. 2 – 2”x3” down bar may be added perpendicularly to each door bar and may weld to the floor or side or top of the main frame rail. Down bars may not touch the crush boxes or front frame rails.
- Windows: you may have two pieces of chain or wire in the front and rear window, mounted within 2” of the window bed. No welding on the links of chain. These are for your protection only. Cannot touch the trunk or hood.
- Steering and suspension parts for your car must be the unmodified parts that came on the car or must be replaced with identical replacement parts. Must be as it came originally. Rear coils can be swapped to bigger coils and wired, bolted, or welded to the differential. Two absolutely vertical loop of chain may be used to attach the differential to the frame. This chain must go through the original upper shock mount hole or through the center hole of the upper coil spring perch. Chain may not pass through the body. To raise the front, choose one of the following methods; you may use twist in spacers in the springs, you may hold the a-arm down with a 4” long, ½” bolt through the center of it, 3 wraps of 9 wire around the a-arm and frame, a length of chain vertically on both sides of the arm with only the end links welded or bolted or flat piece of 3×3 plate welded to each side of the a-arm to frame.
- Bumper swaps are permitted by using any seam welded car bumper excluding pointy bumpers (New Yorkers and Imperials) or a straight piece of open ended ¼” thick tube measuring 4×4, 4×5, 5×5, 3×7, 4×6, 4×7 with a max length no wider than the center of the tires. Cars that came factory with bumper shocks must run their bumper shock in their original position. The shock may be drilled, collapsed, but not stretched and welded or you may remove the rear mounting bolt and slide it back to make shock flush with the frame. A plug weld in original rear mounting bolt hole is ok. Mercury’s and Lincoln’s may cut frame back to match the length of a Ford. No other models may shorten. FOMOCO frame endcaps may be beat in to be flush. Shock end plate may then weld to the end plane of the frame. If your car didn’t come from the factory with bumper shocks, you may weld the bumper directly to the frame. Cars that did not come factory with bumper shocks, may not add them. All cars may weld 2 pieces of 2x6x1/4 steel strap on each rail from the frame to the bumper to ensure it stays on. No homemade or loaded bumpers. Max front bumper height will be 26” to the top, rear min 20” to the top. Two places of wire or chain may go around each bumper up to sheet metal only.
- Cars may install their 4 frame repair plates prior to first inspection. They will be 4x6x1/4 flat plate or 5x5x1/8 taco plates. When installing repair plates, they need to be entirely visible and measurable. They may not be ripped and lengthened or cut into smaller pieces to be used elsewhere. Plates can be installed minimally with intentions of moving them after the heat.
- PRE RAN CARS ONLY!!!! May have 6 repair plates, 4x6x1/4 flat plate or plate with v, or 5x5x1/8 taco plates. Frame must be bent or damaged in order to installed a plate.
